remove featured image from post and project

I am using the blaco theme and have searched all over and messed with the php, but cannot resolve this issue. I need to know how to keep the featured image for my thumbnails, but not have it in my post page and my project page. My first 12 projects I posted kept the featured image out of the top of the post, but then all of a sudden started putting it in no matter what I tried. I have not found a way to edit the php with this blaco theme yet. Does anyone know what to do?
