    Hello, is there a way to have the feature image only appearing on the grid/slide of the home page and not on the other pages?

    Try adding this code in your child's theme style.css

    .single .post-thumbnail img {
            display: none;
    }
    /*hides featured image in single post view*/

    .search .post-thumbnail img {
            display: none;
    }
    /*hides featured image in search result view*/

    .category .post-thumbnail img {
            display: none;
    }
    /*hides featured image in category view*/

    thanks, it works perfectly. just one more thing: how do i hide the feature image also when you search for post types (like galleries, asides etc)? i tried to change the code to this

    .type .post-thumbnail img {
                display: none;

    but didn't worked. what should i put there instead of ".type"?

    I'm not sure? Did you try .type-gallery, .type-aside?

    Hi Notdweller,

    The best way I've found to remove the featured image from the blog feed and posts without effecting it's uses around the theme is by copying your theme's content.php into your child theme and removing this line of code,

    <?php twentyfourteen_post_thumbnail(); ?>

    You can see the results here here.

    hope this helps.

    Hi there

    I've been looking at this thread because I'm trying to do the same thing!

    I've created a child theme, and I've tried both methods suggested by Hannes Salen, and Backpackers Union, and it's sorted the featured image problem, but now my website header image has disappeared! This happened when I tried both methods.

    Can you suggest anything I could do to fix this?

    Thanks in advance!

    I played around with it a bit more and realised what is was, so don't worry about it! Sorry for any inconvenience! :)

    Can anybody explain to me how to remove the featured image from PAGES (not posts). I don't know why but my site is displaying a giant picture. Please see http://fanatchicks.com/about-us/ or http://fanatchicks.com/media-buzz/. It's pulling the first pic and making it a Featured Image. I still want to keep featured image on my posts but
    remove them from Pages. Any ideas?

    Thank you!

    Hi Chiefchick, Have you tried adding something like this to your child theme (or a custom css plugin)?

    img.attachment-thumb-large.wp-post-image {
    display: none;
    }

    It will remove the image, but you'll want check and make sure it doesn't remove any images you want to keep on other pages/posts.

    Hi BackpackersUnion. I was actually able to solve this using this link I found a few minutes after I posted my question. http://wordpress.org/support/topic/hueman-how-can-i-remove-or-avoid-featured-images-in-static-pages?replies=5.

    Thank you for your help though!
