# Remove Default WordPress Media Element (audio)

 * First off, the entire audio system with Mediaelement.js doesn’t really work all
   that well. jplayer does a much better job. A good example is if I create a “blank”
   template inside wordpress and use standard HTML5 audio I don’t have any issues.
   As soon as the template starts picking up the mediaelement.js crap, not only 
   does it fail but it’s a pain to make it look the way I want it to.
 * To that end, I’m creating a custom template that I would like mediaelement.js
   to have no part in nor do I want any core wordpress audio elements to touch that
   template page. Keep in mind that I’m not using shortcodes. I’m hard-coding audio
   elements directly into the template. I also don’t want to go and start editing
   core wordpress files as there are other places in the site where the default 
   wordpress audio is fine. Does anyone know how I can do this. I have tried various
   de-register type things I’ve googled but I haven’t gotten any of those to work.
