 * I am using the flat theme as well and can’t remove the comment links from pages.
   I have all the comments options unchecked. Can anybody help?

 * There is a [plugin](https://wordpress.org/plugins/remove-comments-are-closed/changelog/)
   that does this. I tested it on Flat template and it does the job.
