 * I am trying, unsuccessfully so far, to remove or hide the comment dropdown that
   looks like a speech bubble from all my pages.

 * I have run into the same problem. I went thru settings and tried disabling anyone
   can post (that may not have been exact buttons, but close) also tried several
   checkboxes in theme options. have you had any luck?
