There may be a better way to structure the site I’m imagining, but essentially I’d like to simply remove the “category/” part of the url when viewing all posts in a particular category.
What I want is for the site home page to list the most recent few posts, and then the menu links to a category, which will display a fixed post or page describing that section like a sticky in a forum and then beneath that the most recent posts in the category, and then there will be one more level deep with several sub-categories under each category.
So, for instance a post with a category of “Nature Preserve->Plants” would show up on the home page, the nature preserve page, and the plants page. My only issue now is that the URLs all include “category” in the URL like “whatever.com/category/nature-preserve/plants” and I just want “whatever.com/nature-preserve/plants”.
Anyone know how to do that? What files would be responsible for that? Is it something in the .htaccess file?
Thanks for any help.
