 * WordPress SEO by Yoast has that allows you to do that with a simple tick.
 * I don’t know of any other ways though, I’m new myself.

   it.

 * Also make sure to remove `/%category%` from `WP Admin backend -> Settings -> 
   Permalinks`

 * The WP No Category Base plug also removes /blog/ from my url which is undesirable
