  • Is there a way to remove and/or edit page content on menu pages?

Example: Settings > Reading > Your latest posts radio button.

I have a multisite and only want people to have static front page.

I did comment them out in the options-reading.php page but I assume these will be undone when there is a update.

    Thanks

You should generally manage access by capabilities, but this mostly applies to page by page access, not individual items. It should be possible to at least prevent updating by certain users, but there would be no indication on the page that the particular option is not available for updating, leading to the appearance that your site is “broken”.

Certain items could be hidden by CSS. Of course users can override the CSS and attempt to make changes. If they do that, they should not be surprised when their attempts fail due to server side protections you’ve implemented.

For example, use the “pre_update_option_{$option}” dynamic filter to disable $option from being updated by certain users. If this filter fires with such users, return the passed old value so no update occurs.
