I already use Akismet and I don’t have any pending spam comments. I just have thousands of bot accounts that have registered and are sitting there taking up space and I want to get rid of them.
I second this before it gets closed out like most threads about this. This is a common problem on wordpress sites that get hit by bots and aren’t locked down with all the anti-bot security measures yet. Once they hit you with thousands of accounts, it’s hard to get rid of them.
We need a Spam User Cleaner plugin that lets you delete all users with .ru, .info etc email addresses, that would get a bulk of them, but other search filters could be added too, like users with the same first / last name, users with non .com email addresses, users with subdomains in their email address…
If there is a utility like this already please let us know!
This is ALMOST what I need, but not quite. Our users have custom content on a remote platform, so most wouldn’t have any approved comments. But, if the filters mentioned were added, this is the right idea, and this might help some people:
