I don’t know much about EU privacy laws, but both the usage tracking and “Remote Logging” feature are disabled by default, @walstice.

My guess is that you kept this checkbox selected in the setup wizard.

    Hi there!

WooCommerce does not enable Remote Logging and Tracking by default. It seems that the checkbox may have been selected during setup, as Saif explained in a previous response.

However, you can disable that by following these steps:
WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → WooCommerce.com and make sure you uncheck the following optoin  Allow usage of WooCommerce to be tracked

    I hope this helps.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

I just reinstalled a brand new WooCommerce but I could not see where I am asked if I accept these 2 checkboxes.

Could you please paste here a screenshot of this step? I can’t see at what point of the WooCommerce Wizard Setup I’m being asked such things.

    Thank you!

Sorry I haven’t seen the previous post with the screenshot.

    Now everything is more clear.

However, it is kinda fishy to have that checkbox checked by default, specially by WooCommerce.

Really didn’t see it coming from such a big company.

    Hi there!

I understand your concern regarding the checkbox being checked by default during the setup wizard. While it is pre-selected, it’s important to note that you can uncheck it before proceeding with the setup. This is designed to give users the option to opt in for easier support and troubleshooting, but it’s fully up to you whether to enable it or not.

I understand why you may find it surprising, Your feedback is valuable, and if you’d like to suggest that this option be more transparent or adjusted in future versions, you can submit a feature request to the development team.

    Thank you
