I'm not the author of this plugin but a dedicated user of this plugin (with my mods that I published on this forum).
I would like to bring this to your attention.

Remember that the Twitter REST API V1 will be retiring from March (5th) 2013 onwards and every plugin should be migrated to the new Twitter REST API V1.1 or use the authenticated embedded timeline widgets.

=> All this means that this plugin won't work anymore after that date because it uses the older REST API V1.

See this blog article for more info

You can see my new implementation in action from next weekend onwards on http://www.feestdagen-belgie.be/ and http://m.feestdagen-belgie.be/

    Hi Rolf,

thanks for the info. Is there any way to adapt the plugin to redirect to the new API? Or will the entire plugin be useless from now on?

If that's the case, do you have any tips for plugins that could be used instead of this one? I love the simplicity of the plugin, so I would be sad to let it go.

    Hi Quelake,

I had found a few plugins that use the new Twitter API but they all display a timeline, instead of just the plain simple 'last tweet'.
Alternatively you can embed the standard Twitter widgets. Go to your twitter dashboard. This might be the easiest for you.

I have abondoned this plugin. Instead, I have developed recently a central REST service that collects and caches the latest x tweets using the new Twitter API and serves it securely on request to my websites/services on various platforms/languages (e.g. php programs on the server, js scripts on the client and js scripts on a node.js). This is a custom solution and I do not know how to make it avail to everyone yet.
