“Related Posts” results are not related

    Hello all,

    I really like the look of the related posts module of Jetpack and I do not want to use another plugin for that feature, however the results shown under the posts are not related with the post subject.

    Normally I had 1 category and around 130 tags, when I had this issue I contacted Jetpack support and they asked me to add more categories and separate all these tags under the new categories (which I did). But nothing changed, I see game related news under tv show posts.

    Any ideas?

    Jetpack calculates related posts based on multiple factors. The post title, the categories, and the tags are all taken into account but we give a lot more weight to the post content itself in our algorithm. Changing a post’s category or adding new tags consequently may not change things much. Changing the post content will have a much bigger influence.

    If the posts returned by the module don’t seem related at all, could you give me a few examples so I can take a closer look?

    Here is a link, but I must warn you, the website is not in English language:

    This post is about the “Rebels” TV show. The related post results show:

    1. a post about games
    2. a post about “Clone Wars” TV show (which has a separate tag)
    3. a post about The Force Awakens film

    All these 3 results have separate tags. What I want is, when a user clicks on a post about “Rebels” TV show, only posts about “Rebels TV show” appears.

    @atescetin Did you make any customizations to the results returned by Jetpack’s Related Posts, thanks to some of the filters described here for example?
