    I noticed in the changelog for the last release that you are now only showing ‘posts’ in the related posts dropdown. This is a feature I relied on since most of my posts are a custom post type.

    Can I override this or hook into this so that future updates won’t affect it.

    Thanks.

  • Hi and thanks for posting,

    I’ll bring this thread to the attention of our senior developers and see if they can provide a solution and more concrete answer. Hold tight and thanks for the patience while we got to your thread. Have a good weekend!

    Hey @njalex1,

    Sorry for the long silence. Did you manage to solve this in the meantime or do you still need help?

    Cheers,
    Andras

    Andras,

    No, I would’ve had to change the plugin code and then would need to manually compare each update to it and keep my fix intact. I can’t believe that your product manager would remove this after it already existed. It is foolish to allow the related posts to only look up posts and not custom post types. It was probably someone at Modern Tribe after acquisition who thinks they know the end customer. Right?

    Hey Alex,

    I flagged this now to one of our devs and looks like an easy fix / change. We are going to address this. Keep your heads up for a new maintenance release in the coming weeks, it will be fixed in that.

    Cheers,

    Hi there Alex,

    We just released a new version of GigPress including a filter to extend the related posts ‘post types’. Here you can find a sample snippet (paste it in your theme or child theme functions file) to add ‘pages’ to the dropdown:

    add_filter( 'gigpress_related_post_types', 'add_more_gigpress_related_post_types' );

    function add_more_gigpress_related_post_types( $related_post_types ) {
    $related_post_types[] = 'page';

    return $related_post_types;
    }

    Also to address your previous comment:

    It was probably someone at Modern Tribe after acquisition who thinks they know the end customer. Right?

    Not really, this change was introduced in the last release (2.3.17 [2016-09-15]) before Modern Tribe took over.

    Please let us know if you need further help,
    Best,
    Nico
