The Related Posts appear to be working properly on your site at the moment:
http://i.wpne.ws/c2kXIf they’re missing for some of your posts, could you post some links so I can take another look?
Thanks!
Thank you, Jeremy.
It started working after some hours without doing anything. However in some posts it doesn’t show.
How does it works?
How does it select the related post?Take a look:
Without related posts:
LINK 01 – categories: BLOG, BROWN SUGAR
LINK 02 – categories: ARTICLES, BLOG, DL
LINK 03 – categories: ARTICLES, BLOG, HBWith related posts:
LINK 04 – categories: ARTICLES, BLOG, HB
LINK 05 – categories: ARTICLES, BLOG, HB
LINK 06 – categories: BLOG, SWEET SPOTAs you notice, some posts without the “related posts” are with the same categories of the post with the “related posts”.
Thank you for your time.
Related Posts seem to appear everywhere now. Some of your posts were probably not indexed yet. It can take a bit of time for us to index each and every post on your site, but it’s done now 🙂
Ok cool!!!
I didn’t know that must wait the indexing!Thank you for the support!!!
Hi, I have a problem with the plugin, the related post showing at the bottom of each posts are always the same!
How does the related post work? how do the plugin decide which post to show?
thank youps. don’t know if I have to open another thread for this
Could you give me some examples? I had a look at your site, and the Related Posts look good and are different for each post.
Thanks!
for example, we have posts with different categories.
the main are
1. blog
2. homebakersin the articles (That are under the blog) i see the featured that are part of the same category, that’s fine. (link 04, 05, 06 above).
in the homebakers i still see the same featured posts that i see for the article
link 07
link 08
link 09
link 10If you notice the related in the last four links, are always the same (more or less), and they are not in the same category.
so, how does it choose which post to show in the related???
because there is no relation between the last 4 links and the post that I see in the “related” posts.thank you
Thanks for the examples. The Related Posts don’t appear to be the same on all 4 posts on my end:
Some of these are indeed similar, but that’s to be expected as all 4 posts contain similar content, with a lot a shared words. Since the words are similar, Jetpack’s Related Posts considers the posts to be related.
I hope this clarifies things a bit.
thank you,
maybe you don’t realize because you are just at the fron end, but this articles are not really related with the content of the post.I try to explain a bit better.
I have two main categories:
– ARTICLES
– HOMEBAKERSunder this two categories I do different kind of posts:
– ARTICLES: post that are general articles, write ups or “how to”
– HOMEBAKERS: post that are PROFILES.If I’m looking at a posts that are under HOMEBAKERS, I am interested to some other related HOMEBAKERS, not ARTICLES.
and the same if I do vice versa. So, the question is, why in the related post I never see a post that is under the category HOMEBAKERS even if I’m looking at a post under that category?
Conclusion: we have 50 posts in total and 20 pages, why the related posts are always showing the same 6 posts???
The problem is, Jetpack’s Related Post’s algorithm doesn’t just take categories into account: it looks at the post title, tags, and the post content as well. Since your “homebakers” posts don’t include much content, they have a higher chance to be related to other posts including similar words.
Since that’s the expected behaviour of Jetpack’s Related Posts, I’d suggest 2 alternatives:
- You could move your “homebakers” posts into a separate post type, since they are in fact a different type of content, unrelated with the rest of your posts.
- You could set Jetpack to ignore all posts from the “homebakers” category, as explained here:
http://jetpack.me/support/related-posts/customize-related-posts/#exclude-cats
I hope this helps.
yes, this help me a bit.
So I have to create a custom post type.
If I do this, the plugin will show under my homebakers the related post (with the same custom post type) and under the article the releted article post (with the same default post type)?I’m not using tag at the moment, if I use the tag, will the situation change?
if yes, I could put the category into the tag, isnt’ it?So I have to create a custom post type.
If I do this, the plugin will show under my homebakers the related post (with the same custom post type) and under the article the releted article post (with the same default post type)? That’s correct.
I’m not using tag at the moment, if I use the tag, will the situation change?
It will weigh in the algorithm, but I’m afraid I can’t guarantee it will change the results. The post content is always considered as more important than categories or tags.
I see.
I thought that the categories were most important.Well, you were really helpful, thank you very much!
At least now I know what to do!!!!Thank you again,
have a wonderful day!Hi Jeremy,
so I added the tags to all the posts, but now the “related posts” is not showing at all!
Did I do something wrong?Related Posts seem to be displayed properly on my end. Did you manage to fix this issue by yourself?
