Support » Plugin: iThemes Security (formerly Better WP Security) » Regular actions to .htaccess

  • Hello!

Today I updated the plugin to version 7.8.0 and WordPress to 5.5 and noticed that the creation / update date of the .htaccess file is updated approximately hourly. Although its content does not change: nothing is added / removed.

I think about a plugin, since the CMS developers have not announced anything like this.

What’s happening? What’s new in the latest version? And for what? Please clarify.

  • Experiencing the same problem! I have file change monitor installed and now get notifications about .htaccess date change every hour. It’s very annoying!

    Kindly ask to fix.

Observed for a long time – the situation is unchanged. I only specified the interval – every 30 minutes (I found an iThemes Security entry in “cron”, with the same interval)
Hopefully the developers will see our posts and study the issue.

Perhaps the information provided in the 7.8.0 Changelog will answer some of your questions…

To prevent any confusion, I’m not iThemes.

Workaround is to uhcheck “Allow iThemes write to files” in settings. I did so. Developers say that it doesn’t affect functionality.
