• Have discovered many theme customization scenarios that simply should not exist. Had an enormous problem limiting the sidebar to only the Front Page. It was appearing on every post. Saw no option to simply do this. Eventually found the correct CSS code to add to the themes customizer. Unable to find an option to edit HTML ¿? Theme support is really slooow and I wonder if it exists.

Due to the fact that I received numerous replies to solve my queries regarding MinimalistBlogger after posting my review I have added 2 stars. The WordPress support forum for this theme is in IMHO, dysfunctional. The option to eliminate all comments on the site required a plugin and was not possible in the customization options. To eliminate the sidebar from all the pages was not simple and it should have been.

Hi there, I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues with the theme.

All customer support happens through our ticket system as written on the theme page.
    Link to support page: https://superbthemes.com/contact

Both free and premium users can create a ticket.

Hiding sidebar on specific pages is available in the premium version.

You can edit the theme files in any version, simply go to Tools -> Edit Files or Appearance -> Edit Files (depending on where your website is hosted).

Some hosts also completely disable the opportunity to edit files, where you have to contact them to get it unlocked

Thanks for the reply. Tried to create a ticket with the support link sent. Never gets sent. Terrific. Looks like the Extended Premium Support is being offered as the only solution to get a “quick” reply.

Posted my failure to edit the HTML (not visible) in the MinimalistBlogger WP support forum. Ziltch.

I have the Premium version. OMG Premium ¿?

Hi there, you can click “continue without logging in” in the bottom if you do not have premium support to continue.
It’s a purple link in the bottom of the files.

It does allow HTML editing unless your hosting are doing something weird or you’re trying to edit the wrong theme (could be that you’re trying to edit a child theme which doesn’t have HTML files, instead of the parent theme)

Thanks for the replies. Appreciated.  “continue without logging in” in the bottom  WHERE¿?

It’s a purple link in the bottom of the files. WHERE¿?

I am not using MnimalistBlogger as a child theme.

Will contact my host to determine if there is some reason I fail to find the HTML edit option.

    Hi @abzu2
If you go to the contact page and scroll down, then you’ll see the link shown in this screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/g9Tu01v

You can’t use Minimalistblogger as a child theme, but you can use a child theme ontop of Minimalistblogger.

If you’re doing that then you’ll have to select Minimalistblogger at the Theme Editor to edit the HTML files.

You cannot edit HTML files in a child theme, only the style.css file, so if you’re just seeing that plus a few files then you’re most likely editing the files in the wrong theme

    Hi @abzu2

I’ve uploaded a screenshot here where you can see the link: https://imgur.com/a/g9Tu01v
Simply go to the contact page and scroll down, then you’ll be able to see the link.

Can you upload a screenshot of what you see when you try to edit the theme files? Then we’ll gladly take a look

I have tried logging in with and without an account. I continue to have the same problem; message not sent. Continue to not receive any reply on the WordPress MinimalistBlogger support forum.

Hi @abzu2 you’re looking in the wrong place

You should look under “Appearance” and “Tools

There’s also a more in-depth guide that shows other ways to edit theme files here: https://www.greengeeks.com/tutorials/how-to-view-and-edit-wordpress-theme-files/

Thanks again for the replies. All I want to do is find where:

data: post.allowComments is and change it to
    data: post.allowComments = false

I have looked everywhere for an edit html option. In Appearance>Theme Editor, there is a comments.php for posts, but fail where to find data: post.allowComments that affects ALL posts

Hi @abzu2 is the goal to remove comments from all posts on your site?

If that’s the goal then I’d advice you to use a plugin such as https://wordpress.org/plugins/disable-comments/

It’s free and a super nice plugin that doesn’t increase load time on your site

    (@abzu2)

Fantastic. At last a solution. Thank you very much. For some stupid reason, I hadn’t thought of looking for a plugin to eliminate all comments from the site. Your suggestion worked perfectly with one click. Very much appreciated your replies.

Hooray, I’m happy we manage to find a solution @abzu2 🙂
I hope you’d consider rewriting your review as the issue is that we don’t get notifications on new support topics, so we had no idea you wrote them.

You’re always welcome to write to us at support@[domainname].com (We’re not allowed to write our emails here, but I think that would be ok)

I hope you’ve had lovely weekend and have a great week ahead of you
