This is discussing how to redirect to various pages based on membership level after registration.

Give it a read and let us know if that doesn’t answer your question.

Hi, same problem here but not the solution given in the above link.

    It is very weird.
For a member to join, they first get the small table/box from your plugin showing price and name of membership. so far so good.
They click on sign up, it takes them to the register page.
They fill in the fields and click on sign-up.
    Again, so far so good.

Now they land back on the “join” page where at the bottom is a different table/box mentioning the name of the subscription (again) and a paypal button. They click on the button and technically that should be it. They are registered and logged-in and should land on the page set up in the “Registration completed page” page. However they don’t.

Instead, they land back on the “join” page. Not logged-in. If they log-in, they are still as a visitor. They have to go on join, click on sign up again, when the registration page shows up, then they need to refresh the page so it shows the paypal button again, and only then, when they click on it, are they assigned the subscription and can access what’s been assigned.

Would you know why it is so complicated and doesn’t work in the first place?

website is adauk.org and join page is adauk.org/join

After hours on it, I found a part of my solution.
In options/general I changed the “none” to one of my subscription plan.
    It is now working.

However, when a member signs up, he still has to login and is not automatically logged in after signing up. So instead of being directed to the page i set up or someone to be directed to after signup, i was sent back to the join page (which is the page I set up as protected content too)

@caspergrimaldi it seems that some of your pages are set to automatically log the user out. I think this is the root of your problem.

For example, I set up a test account, joined the free membership and gained access to the protected pages… but as soon as I hit your home page I’m logged out and have to log in again.

This is not something Membership does, so I think there is another plugin on yoru system, or a but in your theme that might be causing this.

    Hi

    i’ve similar problem

after signing up….user does not get redirected to the page a set up..does user have to log in again?

can you guys do a video tutorial on visitor flow? to make things easy and clear to everybody…

    Thanks

@magicpana How have you got the redirection set up? Can you provide a URL so we can test it and see what you mean?

I’ve noticed that this problem happens to me only with chrome and not with firefox.
And with Chrome if a user is logged in, it’s fine until he gets to the homepage. Then he is logged out. however, if he tries to go on another page he is logged in again.

    Hello there @caspergrimaldi,
Do you perhaps have a caching plugin enabled?
Are you using any other caching methods like Varnish/Squid/NginX?
    Maybe a reverse proxy?

I don’t know anything about caching I’m afraid. i only know I have to empty my browser cache every once in a while.
The stuff you’re mentioning, could they come with other plugins without being mentioned or is this the kind of thing, that when we have it, it’s obvious?

I don’t know anything about caching I’m afraid. i only know I have to empty my browser cache every once in a while.

In that case, could you please post a list of the plugins you have enabled on your site and tell us which host you’re using?

    Cheers,
    Ari.

After a lot of thinking, something crossed my mind. I had set up in the level options, for the “join” page to be excluded. (Don’t see the point of showing this to an already member.

So i unticked that. Now on chrome and safari, the homepage isn’t login users out, only the “join” page is doing it. However, they’re not completely logged out because if they click on any other page, they’re back to login mode.

Also I was using a plugin called “login with ajax”. I have now deactivated it and deleted it. I am now using the normal login from wordpress in the toolbar.

Here is a list of all my plugins:
    61 Designs Drawer Plugin
    bbPress
    BP Profile Search
    BuddyMenu
    BuddyPress
    BuddyPress Custom Profile Menu
    BuddyPress Media
    BuddyPress Profile Progression
    Buddypress Xprofile Custom Fields Type
    Easy Contact Forms
    Export Users to CSV
    Google Doc Embedder
    Hide User Profile Fields
    IM8 Exclude Pages
    Membership
    NextGEN Gallery
    Post UI Tabs
    SB Welcome Email Editor
    Ultimate TinyMCE
    User Groups
    Widgets Controller
    WP-Polls
    WP Show IDs

mmmm… no caching plugins there and I’m almost out of ideas!
Haveyou tried this after you resolved your other issue on this post?http://wordpress.org/support/topic/registering-before-paying?replies=12#post-4261782

Well the problem is I can’t really test that because once sign up it sends me, as normal, to the payment option page. But I don’t want to pay to see if the redirection works after that.

How can I test it without paying?

You can set the plugin to Test Mode (Sandbox) and set up a sandbox account with developer.paypal.com to test the payment process without actually sending any money anywhere!

    Hi @pleasehelpmeplease

I’m just doing a bit of housekeeping, could you please mark this thread as resolved if your problem has been sorted?

Doing this helps us keep on top of threads and answer support questions quickly.

    Thanks!
