• How would you configure your registration page to require a new user to enter their email address twice?

We have issues sporadically (< 5%) with users who mistype their email address and then get upset when they do not receive registration emails from our site. Our thought is that if we can force them to validate their email address at registration time by entering it twice, and making sure it matches, we can reduce these instances.

  • When I see such form, I just copy/paste my email, so this will not works for me. Not sure how many people do same.

I actually think that this is an excellent idea, because a wrong email causes tons of problems.

However, as krumch implies, it would need to be made impossible for the user to paste the email address into at least the second box (in much the same way that it’s impossible to paste the password into the second password box). I don’t know how to do it, though!

Can be done with JS. But at other hand, to “penalise” 95% of users may not be a good idea.
