 * What is the point of having users register for my blog? It is a personal blog
so there is no need for more than one author obviously but I figured if people
registed it would track their posts or something of that nature, must like Live
Journal works just without their having a journal to write too they would just
use the account to post comments.
I’ve only had WordPress for a few days so
I’ve noticed that isn’t the case. So is there no real use for user registration
   on personal blogs?

 * I don’t wan’t anybody to post on my log outside of just leaving comments. I know
my question was confusing as hell cause I’m having trouble gathering my thoughts
into something coherent but what I was trying to say is:
    1. Bob registers on
my site and he caries a user level of “zero” 2. All this would entail for Bob
is when he goes to comment on a post of mine he wouldn’t have to fill in the “
name” “email” “url” sections because he was given a permenant alias to use when
posting comments when he decided to register. I just thought it worked that way
but I understand what you are trying to say, would be nice if what I mentioned
would be implenented though if nothing more than just for convinence.

That’d be an interesting feature, which as far as -I know- isn’t implanted right
now. I am not sure how effective it would be though because from what I understand:
Currently you can do that with cookies, without the fuss of having to register
   and stuff…

 * You can prevent people from registering…all you have to do make sure membership
isn’t selected under the Options -> General tab.

 * The registration is for allowing others to post to your blog. Handy for groups,
where multiple people contribute, or for a family blog. In my case, I’m the only
one, so I turned off registration and took out the Register and Login links off
   of my index.php page.
Uer levels – determines what that user can/cannot do.
Haven’t cheked it myself, but a user can only edit posts of other users of equal
or lesser level. Plus there are additional admin funtions to higher level users
that are not avail to lower ones. TG

 * I agree, I really wish this feature was implemented. I would like the post count
to include comments as a post. It would also be helpful to allow an avatar for
each account and other information, such as their instant messenger screen name,
   etc.

 * I guess this is a cross-post to my questions here: [http://wordpress.org/support/index.php?action=vthread&forum=5&topic=322&page=0](http://wordpress.org/support/index.php?action=vthread&forum=5&topic=322&page=0)

I really need a feature hack here that requires all people getting access to
the blog to register before viewing/accessing the site. All users set to 0 level
access, ie. Comment posting only, no editing other posts/articles etc. Currently
my Registration feature is not allowing user registration even though I have
the options selected in Admin. If there really is no current hack/mod to allow
this functionality I am more than happy to shell out a few bucks for a competent
WP proficient coder to create the functionality I need. Unfortunately most of
editing the core of the code is way beyond my skills. Check my profile for details
on how to contact me if you have either an answer or you would like to earn a
   few bucks. DJ
