Support » Plugin: Paid Memberships Pro » register vs membership

  • I need some explanation.

I want people to sign up for a membership and get user profiles with BuddyPRess in the process. I think that is how this works. They go to the Membership levels page and sign up there.

But the theme developers I am using said that people first have to register with BUddypress then they pick a membership. But this is a multi-step, and potentially confusing, process.

How do I eliminate any potential of someone registering on the site. Users should only get membership options (like through your membership levels page). Is this possible. Or are the theme developers right, users first register through BuddyPress and then select their membership.

    I hope you can help.

    Hey Steve,

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

The theme developers are basically right, you will need to sign up for both individually one to register for BuddyPress and the other for the Membership itself.

There is a way to use syncing snippet and Register Helper to set the BuddyPress xprofile fields.

The basics on how to do this is in this blog post: http://www.paidmembershipspro.com/update-buddypress-profile-additional-user-information-registration/

But the above is a rough example and not a “How to” tutorial, there will most certainly be complications along the way.

If this is seriously a feature you need integrated into your site, you may want to sign up and get some help from the support team at PMPro.

    Hope this helps!
    Trav
