Hi, the plugin is live and working on my site. I just tried to issue a refund via PayPal and received the error message:

“An error occurred while attempting to create the refund using the payment gateway API.”

I sell virtual downloadable products. The order status stays processing and I have to manually complete the orders. Can you help with this?

    Hi @infotrade72,

Our next plugin update will resolve the status behavior for virtual+downloadable product orders. They will then automatically go to the status completed.
Refunds should be working without problems though.
Do you have logging enabled in the plugin settings and could share with us the latest PayPal Payments log file? It should contain more information when errors occur.
You can copy the log file from here:
WooCommerce > Status > Logs > select “woocommerce-paypal-payments-[…]” in the dropdown and click on view.
    Thanks!

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

Hi, thanks very much for the prompt message. I have just logged the error:

2021-06-03T16:04:42+00:00 WARNING [UNPROCESSABLE_ENTITY] The requested action could not be performed, semantically incorrect, or failed business validation. https://developer.paypal.com/docs/api/payments/v2/#error-REFUND_CAPTURE_CURRENCY_MISMATCH

The transaction and refund were in the same currency. I use a currency converter plugin.

Thanks for the error message. Can you also tell us which currency converter plugin you are using? Maybe a copy of your WooCommerce system report would also be helpful.
If you prefer to share it privately, you can create a support ticket with us here.
    Thanks!
We have recently completed compatibility testing with the Aelia currency switcher and found everything to be working as expected, but we will take another look at some more refund scenarios.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

The next version has been released and we take care of that issue internally directly with our developers

Will the refund option be hidden when the plugin is set to only authorise a payment?

Also, will you add a Void authorisation option so I don’t have to log into PayPal to do this?
