# refund triggered?

 * Hi, our webshop is up and running for 2 months now and the first purchases are
   made. However last week there was an automatic refund 2 hours after the purchase
   was made. I checked with Stripe and they told me that the refund was triggered
   in the webshop. I do know that some items were out of stock, but I can’t find
   any information on why the system triggered a refund-action. Pretty scary. Can
   someone have a look please?

 * Thank you for contacting us. The only time the Stripe plugin triggers a refund
   is when WooCommerce tells it to or the Stripe refund webhook is called and the
   refund originated in the Stripe dashboard.
 * 1. On the edit order details page, if you scroll down there is a section that
   allows you to refund the order. That will trigger the plugin to process a refund.
 * 2. If you process a refund in the Stripe dashboard, the refund webhook will be
   triggered and the Stripe plugin will record that refund so Stripe and your site
   stay in sync.
 * 3. If the order’s status is set to cancelled, the plugin attempts to process 
   a refund based on the status of the charge/payment intent in Stripe.
 * The Stripe plugin never initiates a refund on its own. It’s all based on events
   in your system.
 * Check to see if the order that was refunded had its status set to canceled.
