# Refund amount cannot be set

 * I have read the post at [https://wordpress.org/support/topic/refund-amount-field-grayed-out/](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/refund-amount-field-grayed-out/)
   which explains why an amount cannot be entered but rather you set the refund 
   on the line items above when taxes are in play.
 * This is a little silly, what about the circumstances where a refund needs to 
   be given against an order for example; a gesture of goodwill for a bad experience
   with delivery, the customer forgets to use a coupon and given the order size 
   refunding the discount saving is better option.

   From the WooCommerce dashboard, you’d need to enter refund amount or quantity
   in line item.
