What an awesome easy to use theme 2011 is. What I would like to modify though is the amount of white space above and below the header image. Also below the page reference on each page. eg Home or About. It would also be great to be able to reduce the size of the page reference or eliminate it and have a highlighted menu item instead.
The experts tell me that a good webpage or blog does not need any scrolling to see most of the content. With 2011 by the time you get past the page reference you only have room for a couple lines of text. The header and page reference are basically all you see when you go to a 2011 page. Does anyone know how to change this. I have already installed a child theme so I can modify it, but will need exact instructions on which file to modify, and with what.
Thank You in Advance.

Really? On what size screen? 1280px? 1024px? 800px? All of these screen sizes (and smaller) are in common use when you take into account laptops, netbooks & cell phones. I’m sorry but, with all due respect, I’m not sure that your experts are really that “expert”. Nevertheless, most of the changes that you describe can be carried out by modifying the the theme’s CSS via your child’s stylesheet.
I’ll add an example.
As you can see the word home is almost at the bottom of the page. This does not make for a very good website.
Thanks in advance again.
Except for the color, that appears to be the default configuration for the Twenty Eleven theme, right out of the box. You certainly aren’t chained to it if you think it will require too much customization for your particular needs. Have you seen any of these options?
Lots of great idea starters located there.
