Twenty Fourteen
reduce gap below menu (7 posts)

    I have activated theme twenty-fourteen and changed colours and put a custom menu across the top.

    What I cannot find how to do (not too good on changing coding in the editor) is reduce the black space under the margin headings to where the first post would start.

    At the moment there is far too large a gap http://www.livingwithatransgender.com/

    Be grateful if anyone could help me resolve this.

    thanks

    It looks like the style.css file of this theme was modified. Line 834 of the original theme contains

    max-width: 1260px;

    whereas you have

    max-width: 260px;

    Undo this change and the menu on the left will display horizontally and the posts will come to the top.

    There are also some other differences in this file. If you want to make CSS changes use a plugin like PC Custom CSS so that whatever you do isn't overwritten when this theme is updated.

    HI

    I've updated it to 1260 but the menu is still not horizontal and the gap is still there - can you help?

    thanks

    should have said that i put the style.css back to the original from the 'other differences' link you gave me which does seem to have now sorted the menu after refreshing.

    however it hasn't sorted the gap below the menu if you can assist with that - there was this thread on the subject but i tried this and it didn't work?

    for some reason i just put the custom menu as a bottom feature on the left side and that seems to have sorted the gap? random but hey it worked.
