Reduce featured content area in width and height

  • We are using Twenty Fourteen for our library site. We expanded the sidebar to accommodate some widgets but now find the featured content grid partially hidden behind the sidebar.

    We would like to shorten this grid area also so our other content is visible to our visitors as quickly as possibly.

    so, how to make the featured area (grid or slider) narrower and shorter?

    Thanks!

    Thanks for any help you can give me!

    Hi, I can’t see that the featured content grid is too big and that content is hidden. On the contrary, the right side is partially empty and the background pattern is showing through. Only when I shrink the screen in tablet view the empty bit disappears. Perhaps I didn’t understand your request correctly.

    you’re correct that the grid isn’t filled. We have yet to add another image. However, if you look at the left image, you can see that it is cut off. The title should read “Forts of Castle Island” but only the “Castle Island” is showing.

    Thanks again for looking at this.

    It looks like this problem arises only on large screen sizes. Therefore, I suggest you add a media query at the bottom of your CSS, like this:

    @media (max-width: 1200px) {
      .featured-content-inner {
        margin-left: 70px;
      }
    }
