# redis settings

 * I set the redis in w3t total cache and it’s working fine.
    just one thing I was
   curious about the following. Whenever i run htop command to see the performance
   of the server, i see redis-server is running for long time.
 * It shows in red color as if it shouldn’t be.

 * The question is
    is it normal to have redis run long? or need to configure to
   auto-restart after some times? If it requires to restart, can I configure that
   from w3t total cache plugin?
 * Please kindly advise.

 * Thank you for reaching out and I am happy to assist you with this.
    W3TC does
   not control this. Once enabled on the server, W3TC can use Redis as a caching
   method for various modules, however, when it comes to managing Redis, you can
   only do it on your server or using a command line. There are no issues with the
   Redis server running long if that does not impact the performance. So there is
   no need for any auto restart. As mentioned above you can only restart Redis manually
   and not via W3TC `redis-server restart`
