Hello! Simple 301 Redirects seems to have stopped working on all of my WordPress sites after WP updated automatically to 5.7.1. Sites that are still on WP 5.7 still appear to work just fine. ecoact.org is one of the sites in question.

Here is a sample redirect I have in place to redirect to an external URL:
    “/restrooms”
    should redirect to:
    https://ecoact.sharepoint.com/SitePages/Restroom.aspx”

Also, here is a sample redirect I have in place to redirect to another page on the same domain:
    “/impacts/community”
    should redirect to:
    “/about-us/community-engagement”

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @nhartsog,

That’s really strange actually. Cause, I have just tested in WordPress 5.7.1 version and redirection seems to be working as expected.

Here’s what I have tried from my end as you can see here.

Besides, have you made any kind of changes? Because the redirection of the links you have shared seems to be working as well. So, can you please cross-check again and let me know?

    Thank you!

Also encountering OP’s issue though it was hit and miss; some redirects worked but most did not. I disabled all other plugins on a staging site and still am encountering the problem.

    Hi @whax,

Have you tried checking on a different browser? Besides, you can try deactivating Simple 301 Redirects plugin and reactivate it again. If that doesn’t work, please try changing your permalink and switch back to the previous one.

Let me know how it goes.

If your issue isn’t resolved yet, please contact support here.

    Thank you!

Apologies, my hand was forced to hard-code (htaccess) my initial redirects for the ecoact.org domain due to critical business needs for them today. However, I have another site (livestockandland.org) that I will not be switching away from Simple 301 Redirects, for testing purposes. I started to come across a few working redirects, so I can concur with whax’s findings: this is not 100% all redirects. I also tried disabling all plugins, different browsers, and even tried reverting back to Wp 5.7, none of which had any effect. I have come to find that the trailing slash is where my issue lies. Here’s what I currently have set up for 301s on this site:

This redirect without trailing slash works quite well:
    https://livestockandland.org/this-should-work

This redirect with trailing slash gives the 404 page:
    https://livestockandland.org/this-will-not-work/

I have both set to have “/workshops/” as the Destination.

Oddly, if I manually-enter the second one without the trailing slash (https://livestockandland.org/this-will-not-work) it redirects just fine. Again, I’ll leave this site as is for now in case you want to take a look, but I am able to revise all other 301s across my sites to get them functional once again by just dropping the slash from the Request. @whax, hopefully this is helpful in your case?

Thanks for your help with this one, everyone!

Sorry folks, I was in a hurry so migrated to a different redirect plugin. :/
