Redirection not working

    Hi,

    I tried to do a redirect with the Redirection Plugin and it doesn’t appear to be working (when I test it by going to my old site I am not redirected).

    In SOURCE URL I put oldsite.wordpress.com
    In TARGET URL I put newsite.com

    I did not use http or www – should I have?

    Also, does this redirection take some time before it’s active or should this work immediately?

    Redirection works from the site it is installed on. If you install on newsite.com then it will only redirect from newsite.com to something else. You cannot get it to redirect an external site to newsite.com – it has no control over the external site.

    For WordPress.com you will need to use a site redirect http://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/

    Thanks so much John, I was so focused on the new site i put the redirection on there! haha. I just now got the site redirect on my old blog and it worked, if I go to my old URL address, it redirects me to my new blog.

    My next important question is – how do I address all my old links that have been pinned (i.e. on Pinterest, other blogs, etc). If I click on a link someone pinned to Pinterest right now, I get a 404 error message. What do I do to correct that?
