    check if you have any redirection plugin and/or any rule in .htaccess that might do this.

    I can not see index.php in your admin root folder http://www.pan-mediterranean.co.uk/wp-admin/index.php
    I see 404 error. Does this file exist in your admin folder?

    Hi Tara,

    This is what I have in .htaccess:

    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ – [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
    </IfModule>
    # END WordPress

    Download Converter,

    Please forgive my ignorance, I have no idea what this means
    do you mind telling me in plain simple english 🙂

    When you click on this link http://www.pan-mediterranean.co.uk/wp-admin/index.php , you should go to admin panel but i get 404 error page and it means that probably this file (index.php) doesn’t exist in wp-admin folder while it should exist). I said to check it by entering your server or by using FTP programs.

    Hi,

    Many thanks for your kind explanation
    this is whats in the index.php

    <?php
    /**
    * Front to the WordPress application. This file doesn’t do anything, but loads
    * wp-blog-header.php which does and tells WordPress to load the theme.
    *
    * @package WordPress
    */
    /**
    * Tells WordPress to load the WordPress theme and output it.
    *
    * @var bool
    */
    define(‘WP_USE_THEMES’, true);
    /** Loads the WordPress Environment and Template */
    require(‘./wp-blog-header.php’);

    It should be much more than what you wrote…

    I thought so
    but believe me this all I could found

    Any idea how can fix it??

    try manually re-uploading all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones. Read the Manual Update directions first!

    Make sure you backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions

    Tara,

    Many thanks for your kind reply

    Its it easier to uninstall it and re install it from scratch??

    If you didn’t post content to it or you didn’t install a lot of plugins and its difficult for you to update it, installing it from scratch is easier in my opinion.

    That is the easiest way
    The reason I put this topic as I couldn’t log to any part of the WP site.

    I will uninstall it completely and then re install it and hopefully it will resolve the issue.

    I will let you know the outcome.

    It didnt work
    I had many attempts to install it with the same issue

    I still dont know where the problem is

    Any help please????????????/

    Did you delete all files and folders and then download and extract wordpress 3.6.1 to your folder and try to install it?

    Yes,
    I deleted everything and the installed it through the cpanel.
