Redirecting users/search engines (301) to my new domain?

  • I had a blog hosted in wordpress (zapapedia.wordpress.com) and I just moved to a hosting service and like to redirect all users and search engines that right now are pointing to my wordpress.com posts to my new address.

    I have read about modifing the .htaccess file but I don’t think I have access to it being hosted in wordpress.com…

    Is there a way I can redirect my users to my new domain from zapapedia.wordpress.com with the 301 redirect?

    Thanks a lot!

  • You may edit the first post and and use the Code instead of the Visual editing mode. Add the following code in the text field:

    <meta http-equiv="Refresh" />

          CONTENT="0; URL=URL_to_which_you_would_like_to_redirect">

    Thanks! That sounds like a good idea to all the users that come directly to the home and I will use that trick 🙂 Sadly, I think that won’t fix the permalinks or search engines issue 🙁

    Thanks a lot!

    That should be asked at wp.COM – don’t you think?

    Oops, sorry!
