Redirecting old posts when the Old Site has been sold

  • davidtrounce

    @davidtrounce

    I have moved my blog to from .com to .com.au/blog.

    The .com has been sold and so the new user would not like me doing a mass redirection so that all of his traffic ends up at my .com.au/blog.

    Nor do I want all my readers going to his site and getting a 404.

    How do I redirect all of my old posts which appear in google to be .com now that the true (new) url is .com.au/blog?

  • You would need access to the .htaccess file of the old .com domain (with permission of the new owner).

    In the .htaccess file you could make some general rules to redirect to your new domain, but you’d obviously need to check that those rules won’t interfere with the new urls set up by the new owner.

    What is the url pattern you used on the original site ?
