Redirecting MovableType URLs to new WP blog, with a twist

  • My google-fu is failing me and I come to you on bended knee asking for help.

I am migrating a MovableType v4.0 blog to WP 3.0.1 on a new host.

I need to redirect the old MT URLs to the new site but am having problems finding any recent advice on how to do this.

The posts on my old site use a numerical format:

    http://www.comparerewards.com/archives/005210.html

I want that URL to redirect to the WP 3.0.1 install, but I don’t see an automated way to do this. The blog has 5000+ posts so this is a non-trivial task to attempt manually.

I found the excellent post detailing a method for WP 2.0, but it was written 4 years ago and I’m not sure if it’s even viable any longer:

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.
