• Hej there,
    I’m a bit confused πŸ˜‰

So .. I am using qtranslate-X and I’m totally happy with it! Working fine, redirecting to Browser language ‘nd all this stuff.

But: If I google my site and then click on my site link the redirection to the browser language does not work.

So googling “KOMM MIT” shows http://www.komm-mit.com as first hit. I click on it, my browser is a german one – BUT the english version is shown.

    Cookies and Cache deleted before

    Any idea?

    @kraej,

strange. As I approach your site for the first time this is in English – default language. With Dutch browser.

Change language with language selector, the following occurs:

de – correct, es – correct, it – correct, ru – correct but back into English does not work.

Is that the same with you?

    You use the latest version?

    Thanks for the quick reply!

I just upgraded this morning to 3.2.9. The problem you’re mentioning is the same for me. It is described here: https://kuchenundkakao.wordpress.com/2015/03/03/problems-migrating-from-mqtranslate-with-qtranslate-slug-to-qtranslate-x/

Unfortunately, this hack is not working with version 3.2.9 anymore. πŸ™

    You use Qtranslate Slug?

There are currently still problems with it, see here

Yes I do. I know the thread as this is the one I found the hack πŸ˜‰

So what is your suggestion then?

Before we have a definitive solution you will have to wait for an update from this hack unfortunately.

    Alright .. I’ll do.

But for my understanding this is not the same reason why the redirecting coming from Google is not working?! :-/

    (@kraej)

Actually the problem appears for every referreal (search engines, links from other pages…) πŸ™

Only when I type the URL http://www.komm-mit.com directly into the address bar it is redirecting correctly

When SEO robots visit your site, they will get language encoded by URL or otherwise always the default language, since robots do not use cookies or referrer. This makes it consistent for SEO purpose.

    See this article

Here with Google “KOMM MIT” produces two URL results:

    1 http://www.komm-mit.com/

    2 http://www.komm-mit.com/de

Ok. I guess I got this. I’m a bit confused though as my google is german as well.

But what about the situation that static links on other websites (in german) points to http://www.komm-mit.com. Why are those clicks not redirected, but typing the adress into the address bar works correct?

Good question. I’ll ask John to explain, he is the programmer πŸ™‚

with qTranslate Slug, as with the previous version and the adjustments/hack did work, you can also decide, temporarily, to return to the previous version.

    Look here: Other Versions
    Development Version (svn)
    3.2.7 (svn)

Click on the version number, not on (svn)

Thanks Gunu! Great support over here! I’ll wait for John πŸ˜‰

In the meantime I’ll downgrade to 3.2.7 to use the hack.

    Cheers!

    @kraej,

I now have myself done a test – Dutch Browser – on Google search the site with the default language English.

Detect the language of the browser and redirect accordingly. checked

used the link on Google – and it redirects to Dutch πŸ™‚

See with the previous version (3.2.7) if it works for you. Clear cache and cookies.

    not working for me πŸ™

temporarily disable qTranslate Slug and see if that makes a difference, again clear cache and cookies.

Doesn’t work, neither for Google nor for external links pointed to my site.
