Redirect Root Network Site to Different URL (5 posts)

I have created a network installation using subdirectories. I would like to have anyone that visits http://multisite.autumnwalker.com/ redirected to http://www.autumnwalker.com/, but for anyone that visits http://multisite.autumnwalker.com/sitex/ to view the appropriate site hosted in the network.

I wanted to keep the network install separate from my primary website installation so that they do not interfere with each other. My primary website is also highly customized (theme and plugins) so I didn't want to port that to a network.

Is there a easy / preferred way of doing this redirect?

  2. Normally I'd say an htaccess/nginx redirect, but since the base URL is needed for otherthings...

    1) Make a static front page on http://multisite.autumnwalker.com/

    2) In that page, either use a plugin or hard code it to redirect.

How do I hard code the static front page to redirect?

Ended up doing it using this template: http://www.keyframesandcode.com/code/development/php/wordpress/wordpress-template-page-redirect/

Not sure if there is a better way of doing it or not.

  5. That works :) The other way is to make a page template and have the code in that.
