# Redirect problem with registered users

 * have the following problem on a website with private content on a page.
 * I have installed a button in the menu, which directs you to login and then you
   are redirected to a specific page using the module to redirect users.
 * When a user has logged in and closes the browser without logging out, upon returning
   to try to access (by clicking on the same menu button), it goes to the user profile
   instead of the page that is redirected as a subscriber.
 * I have done a lot of tests but I can not solve the problem and users are sent
   to the profile page

 * That would be because they are still logged in and when logged in and the Themed
   Profiles module is active, all other TML actions, such as login, redirect to 
   the profile page. This is by design.

 * There is another case where the user is sent to the profile page even if Themed
   Profiles is not active.
 * After registration the user gets sent to the profile page on the first login.
   This is most annoying to me, because 99% of my users are “subscribers” not any
   higher level, so the profile is entirely irrelevant and there are no obvious 
   links to get back to what they’re interested in.
 * How do I override that behaviour?

 * Yes, I have it set to Referer in all cases except admin logout.

 * Well, there would be no referrer on first login because they are likely coming
   from the link clicked in their email to set a password – unless your using the
   Custom Passwords module, in which case the referrer would be the registration
   form.

 * Thanks, that certainly solves the immediate problem.
 * But it’s not ideal, as the only option was to go to a fixed place (e.g. front
   page) whereas mostly it would be better to go back to the previous page. I’ve
   removed the User Links settings for Subscribers altogether but they still were
   sent to the Profile page.
