Support » Networking WordPress » Redirect Loop Solution?

  • Was there any definite solution to problems people were having with redirect loop errors when trying to access blogs other than the main site? Although I can access the front and back of my main site and the network admin, when I try to access the front of any sub-blog, I get a page stripped off styling and the ‘redirect loop’ error when I try to access the admin of any sub-blog.

  • That sounds like .htaccess – either it’s not set up right, or the allowoverride is janky.

Can you define “janky”? 😉 My .htaccess (which is the example Codex uses) doesn’t have allowoverride.

    # BEGIN WordPress
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
    # uploaded files
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?files/(.+) wp-includes/ms-files.php?file=$2 [L]
    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?wp-admin$ $1wp-admin/ [R=301,L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule ^[_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $1 [L]
    RewriteRule ^[_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/(.*\.php)$ $1 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]
    # END WordPress

AllowOverride is in your httpd.conf file 🙂 It’s what lets WP redirect things to the nth degree. It should have ‘All’ as one of it’s options.

    Was it the httpd.cong?
