Support » Plugin: Yoast SEO » Redirect Image Attachment URLs Feature missing?

  • Resolved david.colq

Previously you had an excellent feature where you could Redirect an Image Attachment page to a specific URL, but recently this feature has disappeared (or at least I can’t seem to find it).

Have you completely removed this option i.e redirects to a specific post not to the image?

The reason I ask is that the alternative which you mention in the link below, would require making changes to every image in my Media library – currently have >1k.

I’m hoping it’s just been moved to a different place as manual changes would be a nightmare.

  • hm, i have got the same question,
    cannot find it anymore

The feature to redirect attachment URLs to their parent post has been removed in Yoast SEO 7.0, you can read more about it here.

It has been replaced with the option of redirecting attachment pages to media files themselves. This can be done from SEO → Search Appearance → Media.

    Hey, I need help.

We switched our settings to redirect attachment URLs to their parent post. But it doesn’t work completly. All attachment URLs redirect to the image URL (“../image.png”). That’s okay. But if we wait one day, all of the images will have a non-redirected attachment URL again. We don’t make changes in our settings, in Yoast or other backend areas. This have to be a bug and I don’t know how to fix it.

Our website has more than 10k images and our index is to volatile for a constant Google ranking.

Thanks for your help and Greetings from Germany!
