The linked page is the earliest example. There are 13 more.

I installed The SEO Framework a month ago. On the whole it has worked well. It’s the best SEO plug-in for my purposes.

One odd thing has happened since installing the plug-in. I’m getting redirect errors. In the past one or two would pop up every so often and disappear. I put this down to false positives and GSC being smart enough to fix the false positives when it takes another look.

Today I have 14 ‘redirect errors’. I seen one or two new ones arrive every time GCS updates. Unlike in the past they don’t fade away.

This could be a co-incidence. I don’t see an obvious mechanism for cause and effect.

But I would like to flag this in case it is not and in case others have the same problem.

All the errors are on pages that have been on the site for years. Some are almost ten years old now. The redirects are old too. I doubt any of them has been added so far in 2022, and the errors have turned up since installing the SEO Framework.

If I check them at https://redirect.li there is no obvious problem that should concern Google. They are not long redirect chains. The longest has two jumps.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Howdy!

Did you encounter this issue once you switched SEO plugins?

If you go to the coverage report with errors, you can click on the example links. You’re provided an option to inspect the link. There, you’re provided an option to “View Crawled Page.” (If this option is greyed out, hit “Test Live URL” first, that might resolve the issue though.)

Click “View Crawled Page,” and you’ll find a button displaying “More Info.” Thereunder you can inspect the HTTP Response, which will detail the issue.

Yes. But that could be co-incidence. I can’t see any obvious cause and effect.

Testing the pages ALWAYS shows they are fine, but the report doesn’t change even after requesting their inclusion.

@Sybre I suspect it is NOT a plug-in issue, but wanted to make sure. Your response suggests it isn’t related to SEO Framework.

Yes, Google Analytics and Search Console can reflect what TSF does. Yet, I cannot recall a case in the past three years whence we’ve isolated an issue on either platform caused by TSF misbehaving, only misconfigured.

Google is a large organization with many developers tweaking the same thing, trying to support an unlimited number of web configurations. Bugs aren’t out of the question in such software.

I reckon Google devs are notified of error spikes in their systems, and I believe the errors you see will resolve automatically after a while. I’m marking this topic as resolved for now.

We’d gladly be informed of these issues, for it might be a bug in TSF instead of at Google. So please do not hesitate to follow up or ask about another matter.
