Support » Plugin: Simple Membership » Redirect and email not happening after payment

  • I had someone subscribe recently (I don’t often have subscribers) who made her PayPal payment, but did NOT get an email with registration information. (I ended up manually creating her membership and will have to manually end her PayPal subscription since I can’t connect her PayPal payments to the account.) I checked the logs–they show nothing. And yes, I had it set for Enable Debug; it didn’t show up that she’d even paid for a subscription.

    Hi,

but did NOT get an email with registration information.

Please check the following troubleshooting tips for e-mail issues.

(I ended up manually creating her membership and will have to manually end her PayPal subscription since I can’t connect her PayPal payments to the account.)

When you create an account manually from the admin end and later you want the user to pay for a subscription, make sure the user logs into his/her account then pay for the subscription using the subscription button created inside the plugin.

Let me know if the above helps you.

    Thank you

How do I do a test membership sign-up with a paid membership? Ideally without setting up a second PayPal account?

She PAID for the subscription first through the plugin button, so the solution to have her pay later doesn’t work. She paid, she didn’t get an email, nothing got logged that she’d paid, there weren’t any pending accounts…

    Hi,

You can carry out some sandbox testing and or enable Debug mode and wait until another member pays for their subscription. If something goes wrong, you can check the log file.

You can also carry out the following troubleshooting steps premium-membership-registration-issue.

She paid, she didn’t get an email, nothing got logged that she’d paid, there weren’t any pending accounts…

Did you try the e-mail troubleshooting steps link I shared above?

    Kind regards

Debug mode was already enabled when she signed up. It didn’t recognize that she’d paid. So, it’s not simply a matter of the email didn’t go out, NOTHING was recognized by my site as having happened, although the subscription is working in PayPal.

As for the email troubleshooting tips you first sent, they say to enable Debug, which was already enabled, and then do a test membership. I only have paid memberships, so just a fake account won’t do.

The PayPal sandbox option is NOT working for me. As in, I create the sandbox account, go to subscribe, it says the email or password are incorrect. Sometimes it brings me to a screen where I’m to create a new account or sign in, and when I choose the sign in to PayPayl option, I put my sandbox email in, it brings me back to the same screen where I have to create an account or sign into PayPal. I even tried with pre-existing default accounts in my PayPal account. I don’t think my site is going to the PayPal sandbox site, even though I checked that box in WP Membership and saved it.

The other thing to check is to make sure the IPN feature is enabled in your PayPal account. Otherwise our plugin won’t received any notification after payment.

Your information for the Paypal IPN feature on the Profile page is outdated (or perhaps I’m just one of few with an updated profile). I did manage to finally find the section and IPN has been enabled all this time. Which it should be because it used to work.

Some additional thoughts that may have to do with this issue:

I do have a firewall plugin and a security plugin installed (Sucuri and NinjaFirewall)–somebody had hacked my admin account and I felt the need to add more protection to the site. Sucuri notifies me whenever anybody attempts or successfully logs in. Ninja tackles general site attacks.
