# Red (unsecure) HTTPS on Subdomain

 * My subdomain’s https:// is red with a line through it. But my main site is just
   fine (green [https://](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/red-unsecure-https-on-subdomain/?output_format=md)).
 * Subdomain – [https://paidtoplay.gamingtheatres.com/](https://paidtoplay.gamingtheatres.com/)
   
   Main domain – [https://gamingtheatres.com/](https://gamingtheatres.com/)
 * I’m wondering why my main site’s https/ssl works, but my subdomain’s https/ssl
   is red?

 * p.s. On a side note, my main domain doesn’t redirect. But my subdomain does. 
   My subdomain redirects fine from paidtoplay.gamingtheatres.com to [https://paidtoplay.gamingtheatres.com](https://paidtoplay.gamingtheatres.com)
   but my main domain doesn’t redirect from gamingtheatres.com to [https://gamingtheatres.com](https://gamingtheatres.com)
   
   Thanks if you can help here too if it’s a quick answer. I’ll probably post this
   latter problem on a new thread though.

 * No, I don’t think so. I have a dedicated SSL Cert (I’m guessing it only works
   with my main domain?)
 * I have the ability to purchase from my web host a SSL Wildcard Certificate. Will
   that cover subdomains? I don’t think I need SSL/HTTPS for my subdomains though.
   Can I make my subdomains be http:// instead of [https://](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/red-unsecure-https-on-subdomain/?output_format=md)?

 * I’m not 100% sure, check with your host on that one.
 * As for the https bit … where did you define it in WP? In the wp-config.php? I
   tend to just use https for admin only.

 * I host with WestHost and used the one-click install of wordpress. I installed
   the https/ssl one.
 * Maybe I can just re-install wordpress using the http one and re-upload mySQL 
   data base to the new http install?

 * I’d check with the host… some SSL only covers the main domain, not the subdomains.
