Hi @colin1661 I’m pleased that you are finding the plugin useful.

Donors may cancel their own recurring payments following these instructions from PayPal.

Alternatively, if you are contacted by a donor for support, you may cancel their subscription in the “Recurring Payments Dashboard” in your PayPal merchant account.

    Hope that helps,

    Gavin.

    Hi Gavin,

The website I created using your plugin has gone live, https://dogsonthestreets.org/donate/ but it’s not connecting 50% of the time? Has anyone else reported a problem?

    Hi Colin,

Is there a pattern as to when it fails?

Maybe only when a specific set of options is chosen?

I have seen that error before but only in a situation where it was failing 100% of the time. That was due to the recipient PayPal account being locked.

If you could perhaps let me know which settings were chosen on the times it fails that would be very helpful. I have tested a couple of combinations and each connected fine to PayPal for me but I may not have chosen the problematic option.

Also could you paste here the shortcode options you have used?

    Kind Regards,

    Gavin.

    HI Gavin,

Thanks for you quick reply, here is the short code I’m using [sprdntplgn |advanced].

I thought the problem was paypal, but they wont talk to me (they will only talk to owner of the account), so I’m going to try and get her to tell them to talk to me.

I’m going to spend the day creating the page in an html editor to see if we get the same problem.

I really appreciate your help with this, I will keep you updated.

    Hi Gavin,

Sadly I had to uninstall this plugin for a number of reasons.

    1. Didn’t work 100% of the time.

    2. Customers found it confusing.

Would you be interested in developing a plugin, because although I’ve found one that works it’s very basic and is no longer supported.

If you look at https://dogsonthestreets.org/donate-new/ this works well, but as I said it’s no longer supported.

The plugin is called “PayPal Donation button with Auto Responder”

This plug in links to paypal and creates a list of donars.

The pro-version could allow you to export the donar list, this could be imported in to mailchimp etc

No need for autoresponder, paypal does that.

I can’t find a plugin that does this.

Another version could look like https://donorbox.org/wordpress-donation-plugin

I could help you by creating a website for the plugins, graphics, promoting it. I’m retired now so not looking for money, just a small percentage of revenue to cover the costs of hosting a website.

    Hi Colin,

I’m afraid I haven’t been able to replicate a single error here – I have tried every possible setting that I can imagine and it has worked every time. If there is a specific set of circumstances in which the plugin fails then I am happy to investigate those further, but without any extra information I am afraid I have little to go on.

With regards to your second point, what were users finding confusing? Too many options? Unclear wording? Poor layout? I’m always open to improving the UI/UX so any feedback would be most welcome.

I’m afraid I don’t have time to take on someone else’s abandoned plug-in. However I may be able to move their simpler UI/UX to my plugin as an option. I will take a look when I return from vacation.

I’m really sorry that the plug-in didn’t meet your expectations. Keep an eye out for future updates though, you’ve got me thinking about a couple of possible improvements.

    Kind Regards,

    Gavin.

    HI Gavin,

Thanks for your quick response, the client is not very computer literate and I asked her to add me as a user to her paypal account but for some reason I could not get access.

I saw one screen dump which said “Things don’t appear to be working, please try again later. and that was on a mobile phone.

Also a user sent in this report “I have tried to make a one off donation on your donate page but an unable to do so as the 1 payment option isn’t active, only the weekly/monthly option which I can’t do. So no donation because of website functionality, bit of an own goal there.”

They take hundreds of pounds each day in donations and as you can imagine where not happy.

Over the past 3 weeks I’ve tried nearly all the plugins and despite the fact the one I’m using is not supported, they are now collecting money.

For the moment I will stick with this and I will get some quotes for someone to write a plugin.

    Hope you enjoy your holiday.

    Regards Colin
