 * Subscription Payment for courses:
    I enter an initial amount of X and then choose
   monthly recurring with amount X, frequency 1, billing cycles 3.
 * Result: The course overview item states “X for 3 months”
 * Expected Result: The course item states “X for 4 months” (1 initial X + 3 following
   X)

 * Hey Jackie,
 * To achieve your expected result simply exclude the initial payment and set your
   cycles to 4 rather than three.
 * The initial payment field is only necessary when your initial payment is a different
   price than the remaining payments. If, for example, you wanted to have 4.99 the
   first month and 14.99 the remaining months you could use the initial payment
   field.
 * Hope that get’s you functional, let me know if it doesn’t.
 * Take care,

 * Hey Thomas,
 * If I understand correctly, the user gets a trial period if I don’t set a initial
   payment.
 * So if I do “monthly”, “frequency 1” and “amount 4”, then the user pays his first
   invoice 1 month after signing up for the course.
 * I don’t want this “trial” period, therefore I set an initial payment.
 * And as state above, if initial payment equals monthly payment then the amount
   of payments total is wrong (n-1).
    E.g. I set initial payment to 200 and then
   3 monthly payments of 200 the resulting payment is: 200 + 200 + 200 Instead of
   200 + 200 +200 + 200
 * When I set the initial payment to 201 then the payments are “fine”:
    Resulting
   Payments for initial 201 and then every month for 3 months 200: 201 + 200 + 200
   + 200

 * Hey There jackfelix,
 * I see what you’re saying now. I apologize for my initial density.
 * While this is a bug, in that it doesn’t work as expected, it is not something
   that I can see us addressing anytime soon as this is behavior that, if we changed,
   would cause issues for any users running existing recurring payment plans. I’ve
   made a note of the issue on our backlog but I can tell you with certainty that
   this will *not* be addressed until a major release (version 3.0) which is not
   currently on our roadmap.
 * However, you can simply work around what you expect and simply add or subtract
   a month when you create your courses. The user will not ever experience a payment
   plan at the wrong length as long as you can stand the expectation feeling wrong
   to you.
 * Thanks for the note and let me know if there’s anything else we can help with.
 * Take care,

 * [@jackfelix](https://wordpress.org/support/users/jackfelix/),
 * As I haven’t heard from you in over a week I’m going to consider this resolved
   even though the proposed resolution is, in a way, a workaround. Again I don’t
   believe this is something we can safely change without causing issues for our
   existing users.
 * Please let us know if you require any further assistance and thanks for your
   support!
