Support » Plugin: Essential Real Estate » Recurring Issue with Google Maps

  • Resolved kujain

    hi there!

Hoping this is an easy one to resolve. I have been having the continuous and recurring issue with google maps on the site with the ERE plugin. Every day, for some inexplicable reason, maps stops working. I have a map on the homepage (and property pages eg. but the maps space is empty and there’s a js error in console.

BUT, if I then login to the backend, the maps suddenly comes back and is also back when i visit the site in a new session!!

It doesn’t seem to make sense to me but it seems to logging to the back somehow refreshes a connecting with the API or something? The console errors are not verbose so I am not able to understand the source of this but I am really hoping someone else has faced this with this plugin or google maps in general and can suggest something?

    Thanks in advance!

  • This is due to the changes that Google has made to the API codes.

You need to create your Google API by following this process:

Then head to your Google Cloud Platform dashboard ( and select the project you want to add the API’s to.

Under the Billing menu item on the left, make sure you have a billing account selected (this is new as of a few months ago)

Under the API’s and Services, you need to enable the Maps Javascript API and Geocoding API for the location to work. If you want to use Places Near Me, you also need to enable the Places API.

I hope that helps a little.

    Thanks for responding Charly!
I failed to mention earlier, but yes, I have already updated the Maps API precisely as you have outlined above: added an active billing account (billing has been active for a few months with charges being incurred) and enabled the above 3 APIs (all are seeing requests).

Which is why its so strange that the maps connection keeps getting knocked off daily and I am able to revive it just by logging into the admin! (currently its working since I logged into the backend earlier today)…

    Thanks very much!

Seems that Geolocation Api is also needed.
