• I have the Media Settings at 1280×1280 for large-size images because my usual size is 1280×720, which is rectangular.
The problem is that when I upload an image of 1280×720, it automatically shows as square one in Media Library.
When I add that image as a featured image to a blog post, the shape is square. Although the individual blog post shows the image as rectangular as the original, the image on the blog page, which shows 10 blog posts is in the squared shape.
How can I fix this problem?
    TIA and All The Best

  • What happens when the media setting is disabled to scale to 1280×1280 for large-size images, and then you upload the rectangle image? Is the rectangle size retained?

    Dear Jack,

I didn’t know I could disable one of the media settings.
    How can I do that?

I made a video of the screen capture as below.

I hope this video gives you a better idea.
FYI, the blog address is https://ochim.com/blog/.

    Thank you. All the best.

Ok, cool site! I wish I could learn another language, but I struggle with that.

Anyway, starting at 00:48 in your video, I see the backend panel where you’re setting the image size. That looks like a third-party plugin. I suspect that it is overwriting the natural size of the rectangle images you upload.

Does that plugin have a forum where you can ask how you can disable it from scaling certain images?

Well, I don’t remember exactly but there is an option to have a dark mode in WordPress itself.
As a matter of fact, I deactivated all the plugins to check if there was any one of them that could cause this problem to no avail.
The only thing I have left is a theme I could think of but I am afraid to change it to another one because it would take a long period of time to set that back to the current one.
    Thank you.

The interesting I discovered is as follows.

The current theme is EightMedi Lite and when I changed it to BeaverBuilder and in Live Preview all the images on the blog page were resized to square.

    Confusing…

Then that sounds like a built-in theme settings panel you showed in your video, rather than a plugin. You may want to seek out the theme’s support area (for EightMedi).

    OK.
    Thank you. All the best.
