Support » Localhost Installs » Recovering site from backup

  • Resolved hirdvrayewl

    Hello Friends,

The topic is not strictly centered on Localhost Installs but it is technically part of it as I am working with XAMPP. In short, I have a backup, made with a plugin, that I would like to restore.

I managed to unpack the backup file, extract the database and a number of folders that belong to the wp-content folder.

The plan is make a WordPress local fresh install and then swap database and all data aforementioned.

Would it be a realistic way to recover the site? Is anyone able to help with this? I have already made a few attempts, without success naturally, so I would be happy to fill you in with further details on the issue.

    Many thanks for your support!

The unexpected happened! I managed to recover the site.

It was true the upload limit was something determined by either WordPress or the server.

Here the All-in-One WP Migration author is actually giving more clues on how to modify the limit. An more tips on how to increase upload_max_filesize are available online.

I was using a non updated version of All-in-One WP Migration which for some reason wasn’t complying with either instructions given by php.ini or .htaccess (this one overrides the previous).

Soon after the recovery All-in-One WP Migration notified me that php version (7) is old and that it could create issues. Will it go up to date once I update WordPress?

Hard to believe. @macmanx the merit goes mostly to you. Thank you so much for your support !!
