 * Hello,
 * Actually, I know where they are, but I can’t get WP to pry them out of the database.
 * I let a friend of mine set up WP on my server and a few weeks later he experienced
   the ‘White Screen’, so I do not know what exactly happened. After trying to figure
   it out I gave up and re-installed WP. WP is up and running, but the all the old
   post are gone.
 * He did not have a backup, but I did happen to download his complete site a few
   days ago.
 * The wp-config.php file looks fine. I have been snooping around the database thru
   phpMyAdmin, but it’s a bit over my head.
 * Any help would be appreciated.
 * Thanks,
    Paul

 * Hi Paul.
 * As I understand it, you have a new clean install of WP and you need to upload
   your old posts from the other broken blog.
 * You need a backup of the old blog’s database. It will be a .sql file.
 * Once it’s downloaded, just restore that database to your new database. Here’s
   how:
    [http://wpbloghost.com/tutorials/how-to-restore-your-wordpress-database-using-phpmyadmin/](http://wpbloghost.com/tutorials/how-to-restore-your-wordpress-database-using-phpmyadmin/)
 * If you haven’t downloaded the database yet, there’s another video on our site
   which will show you how to “back up” your database.
 * Once you restore that old database, your posts should be back.

 * Hi,
 * First set the permalinks to your blog as it was previously set…and set the correct
   database details wp-config.php
 * also make sure that you have assigned all required permissions to database user..
 * Disable all the installed plugins and check with your blog
 * Thanks,
 * Shane G.

 * Hi,
 * Thanks for the quick responses.
 * WpBlogHost: Nice videos! Very easy to follow. But, I didn’t get the results I
   wanted (got a little education though).
 * Shane: I’m sure his permalinks were set to default … and I hit the ‘save changes’;
   wp-config.php details checked again; database permissions seem fine. I set his
   blog up with the same settings as mine. The only difference is the db_name, and
   the authentication keys.
 * Another thing, not that important, but maybe related, his upload folder (located
   in wp-content) with all his old photos is not showing up either.
 * I can post on his site, so everything is working.
 * Appreciate the help. Anymore thoughts?

 * This might not make any sense, but I think I will create a new database, import
   the sql file, and set up a new config.php.
 * Hmmmm, interesting. the new database won’t import the sql file.

 * It seems that the above worked. Wish I new why. Thanks for the help. You are
   gentlemen and a credit to earthlings.
