• I was having a problem with another URL co-hosted on my server and performed an export of my WP blog expecting that there might arise a problem. When the other problem was resolved, several of the WP posts and some of the comments were missing. Is there a way to recover posts and/or comment selectively from this file (WXR) or is it an all or none proposition?

  • If it is an export file off that installation, the import function knows which ones are there and will not import files already there! It should be no problem to import the entire file and let wordpress decide what it is missing. I do that quite often when syncing installations as old posts will not be imported again.

That being said, you can just take the posts that you want from the <item> to </item> and then use the entire header and footer information around the items you want and just save the file you create as a .xml extension.
