Recently loading eternally – not displaying any posts

    Hello Hector!

    I did install both of your beautiful plugins (Recently and Popular Posts). Now, I have Popular Posts working fine, but Recently has the green loading line displayed for ever. In Appearance / Widgets I activated the preview of the widget and there it works just fine, but on the front end the posts do not show.

    I am using the latest version of WP and your plugin and did not make any changes to the code. I already cleared the caches.

    What else could I do, to make it work?

    Chances are it’s some conflict with another plugin.

    WordPress Popular Posts has some checks in place to reduce the possibility of having another plugin interfering with its functionality, Recently doesn’t have any of that yet.

    Could you please go to Settings > Recently, then click on the Debug link at the top of the screen, and share that info here so I can have a look?

    At first glance the only one that stands out is WP Rocket. Try disabling it completely for a moment, then check and see whether Recently is still stuck on the loading animation.

    That did not change anything. Any other idea? I could eventually disable all the other plugins to find the one in conflict.

    Yeah, since this site is not live yet I guess it’s safe to just disable all plugins -except for Recently- and see if that changes anything.

    Hi, I am happy to find it quick. And it’s the free part of BuddyBoss (BuddyBoss Platform). If enabled, the recent posts do not show. If disabled, they show.

    Could you eventually test it on your machine? You can find it here:

    I’m not super familiar with BuddyBoss but sure I’ll install it and see if I can figure out why it’s causing Recently not to load. I’ll leave a comment here once I have some news.

    Found it: it’s the BuddyBoss Private REST APIs checkbox that’s preventing Recently from loading (why is BuddyBoss offering users to restrict access to REST API endpoints in the first place?)

    You can instruct BuddyBoss to not block requests to Recently’s REST API endpoints by adding wp-json/recently to the Public REST APIs textarea, then save changes. Recently should work as expected then.
