Nice details and site is solid but I would recommend some visual sprucing up. Putting some sort of visual in the header or sidebar would help enhance the site and make me stay longer to read the content. However, try to steer clear of recycled images or graphics you have seen on other sites. Try to use original (or altered) graphics when possible, also you might want to consider a custom logo.

def make use of the sidebar. put some widgets in their to help the visitor navigate the site better.
I agree with QrRage. I like the layout, but to help with the visual of the site and navigation I would suggest using some widgets in the side bar..
I also think you should talk to your friend about the custom logo. Once you have a solid logo you can edit your color scheme to match it.
Very nice site. I do agree with what has already been said so far in that you may want to use a few sidebar widgets. Have you thought about a color scheme for the entire site so that it will blend well with the logo you are having created?
